NATIONAL LOCKDOWN - We are able to continue holding our short Sunday services, as well the mid-week period of private prayer. However each church will be reviewing the risks in light of changing circumstances, and as a result details given may be subject to change.
Despite the restrictions the church family is still here for you. Please make use of information available on this website.
CHURCH IS WHO WE ARE, NOT WHERE WE GO

Exeter Diocese has been developing Mission Communities since 2006.  These are groups of parishes in the same locality who share the same ministry team, and a common vision, whilst each church still maintains its own identity.

WELCOME to the South Molton Mission Community (legally South Molton Benefice) which comprises nine churches spread across a large area of rural North Devon.  See map.

Sunday 17th January

Eternal Lord,
our beginning and our end:
bring us with the whole creation
to your glory, hidden through past ages
and made known
in Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

The Christian Symbolism:
  • The circle, because it has no beginning or end, is symbolic of eternity. It is used most often as a reference to God.
  • The plain shepherd's crook is a reminder of Jesus, the Good Shepherd.*      ( It also reminds us that our Mission Community historically, and even to this day, is an agricultural area of which sheep farming plays an important part.)
  • The initials form, in conjunction with the crook, a cross which is the chief sign of the Christian church. It is a reminder that Jesus Christ is the centre of our Christian faith.
* A highly ornamented crook called a "crosier"  is used as a symbol of ecclesiastical authority carried by a bishop.
