HOMELESSNESS

 Homelessness and, in particular, rough sleeping is often viewed as a problem which only exists in large cities. However, there is a significant number of people homeless and rough sleeping in Devon, not just in the larger urban areas such as Exeter and Plymouth, but also in the more rural and remote parts of the county. If you wish to know more you can go to the CHURCH HOMELESS CHARITY website. 

POVERTY

People living in the poorest areas of England are likely to die 26 years earlier than those living in the richest areas. Injustice and inequality are rife in our society. Jesus said: "I tell you the truth, just as you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of mine, you did it for me." Matthew 25:40  
The  CHURCH URBAN FUND  is the Church of England's response to poverty in this country, working in partnership with Christians who feel called to put their faith into action.  
CHRISTIANS AGAINST POVERTY (CAP):  Christians Against Poverty  offer free help to anyone who needs to get more control of their finances. ​

FAMILY PROBLEMS

Care for the Family is a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those who face family difficulties. It was established in 1988 by Rob Parsons, a well-known author and speaker. Their work is motivated by Christian compassion, and its resources and support are available to everyone, of any faith or none. 
CARE FOR THE FAMILY can provide much useful information, and sources of help in dealing with a variety of family problems.

ADDICTION

If you have an addiction, you're not alone. It's estimated that 2 million people in the UK do. Addiction is most commonly associated with gambling,drugs, alcohol and nicotine, but it's possible to be addicted to anything, Go to this NHS site to read about types and causes of addiction and what treatments are available. ​

CRIME & ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR

We are fortunate to be living in an area of relatively low crime, but if crime or  anti-social behaviour impacts on you personally, it can blight your life. Through the  Devon & Cornwall Police website,  you can obtain support and advice, and make contact with your local neighbourhood policing team.
